The 2022 NECS Conference invites scholars to reflect on audiovisual media’s capacity to organize, create and challenge human knowledge. The conference aims to scrutinize the traditional historiographies surrounding audiovisual media and question the relationship between audiovisual media’s operative and spectacular qualities, pondering the wider implications of the juncture between audiovisual culture and epistemic practices.

Our colleague, associated professor Radu Jude will give an artist talk alongside Portuguese filmmaker Susana de Sousa Dias. The international conference held in Bucharest features keynote speakers from Paris, Berlin and New York.

If interested to participate, there is a Call for Papers and a Graduate Workshop where you can submit contributions until 31^st of January 2021.  Eligible formats and topics include participatory documentary filmmaking, diary films, interactive documentaries, digital interactive media,
